First I want to thank everyone who came to the shows in California! They were very well attended and lots of fun, but intensely busy. We sold a lot of armor, hooray! Saw many old friends, made some new ones. Whew, it was a whirlwind.
Had quite a flurry of last minute Burning Man pieces to send off when we got back too. Hopefully they all reached their destinations in time and their new owners are enjoying the magic of Black Rock City’s Metropolis by now.
Paul is finishing up a custom tres gothique bra and belt for our lovely Allegra to wear at next weekend’s DragonCon. They will complete the set started earlier this summer with the headdress and cuffs below:

This is Violet Arcane, modeling. Photo by Alan Welch of Reverie Realm. Chainmail bra by Chained Elegance. Here’s another with Allegra as model. Makeup by Svio. Photography by Luna.

Starting tomorrow – 8/31, 2 scant months before HALLOWEEN, I will start posting a daily series of helpful resources and tutorials to aid in your preparation. Haven’t tried doing a series before but I have a folder stuffed with goodies that I’ve been saving for this. Stay tuned!

We’re scrambling to get out of town. Heading for NYC and parts north for a Fire Island wedding and family time. We will also be delivering some fab pieces to a new gallery in Manhattan. Looking for other opportunities to show our work to interesting folks, suggestions welcome.
Check out this luscious photo by Laura Dark, featuring our new clip on horns. They look great with big opera hair don’t they? They have little loops to insert your own clips, combs or barrettes. 25.00 a pair. They are not on the website yet. Email me to order some.

We made another great connection through Model Mayhem a couple of weeks ago. San Diego fantasy photographer WarFlight shot some beautiful pics of one of our customers Stephanie.
It started out with Stephanie, who lives in San Diego, finding us online and ordering a bustier set. She loved what we made her and sent us some photos she’d done of herself. She looked great but the pictures were dim snapshots. I asked if she’d be interested in modeling the outfit. She liked the idea so I did a search on MM and found Richard AKA WarFlight Wrong Studios. He loves shooting costumed scenes, has a good eye for drama, and makes a point of generously supporting new models and artists with trades. His tag line is “Costume Play, for Art’s Sake”.
So I contacted him. Turns out he’s been a fan for a while and was excited to work with us. He’d found us on DeviantArt. So I introduced him to Stephanie and, 2 weeks later, viola! Amazing what you can do 3000 miles away with an internet connection.
I am so happy with these photos. I love the way they tell a story. The tarot is always a good source of rich imagery. Stephanie never modeled before but she did a wonderful job. All around warm fuzzy feelings!

See the rest of the set in WarFlight’s DA gallery.

Just after the cherry and redbud trees began flowering this spring, we were part of a shoot with photographer Laura Dark. We got to accessorize the lovely garments of Enigma Fashions . The images just came out in the latest issue of Auxiliary Magazine (click on the magazine image and turn to page 40 to see them).

We returned last night from Charlotte, where we spent the weekend at ConCarolinas. Met some talented folks there who welcomed us warmly. It wasn’t a great weekend for sales though. I think our prices were too high for the crowd. But we were greatly appreciated.
Allegra, AKA the Chainmail Chick, modeled the Winter Goddess outfit as well as some steampunk gear. She wandered about attracting fans and handing out cards.

Allegra and Paul entered the costume contest on Saturday night: Paul in his Ringmaster Greenman suit and Allegra in the Winter Goddess. They won 1st place in the Pro category.

We connected IRL with two photographers whom we had previously met online. Alan Welch and Keith Bailey both do fantasy based photography. Our look is sympatico with theirs, so we planned a collaboration. Sunday afternoon we all met up at the new Elf FLight photo studio, just south of Charlotte, and did some wonderful work with models Allegra, and Hollie Quinn, as well as two other photographers, Nicole and Tanner. There was hair and makeup help from Melissa, Allegra’s sister.
Images from that shoot will be forthcoming. Meanwhile here are some pictures of other venders and guests at the Con that we enjoyed connecting with.

Back to Earth Creations - beautiful jewelry from this darling couple, out of TN.

Brenda, the Brazin Lady makes beautiful circlets and other goodies. You can find her at Bonnaroo next weekend, lucky girl.

Emilie P. Bush - author of the steampunk novel Chenda and the Airship Brofman. Looking forward to reading this.

We’re packing up to drive to Charlotte tomorrow morning early. It’s only 2 hours away. It’ll be tight cramming it all into the Subaru. We have lined up a photoshoot on Sunday with Alan Welch of Reverie Realm, a photographer from Raleigh, NC. He does lovely digitally enhanced fantasy scenes, like those below.
If you come to ConCarolinas please visit us in the Art Room. I believe there are discount tickets for those attending HeroesCon nearby.

Sorry for the sporadic blog posts. I’ve been concentrating on Facebook lately.
We ‘ve been super busy busting out inventory for the Fairy Festival and hauling ourselves up to PA to sell there (about 500 miles away). Got back on Monday night. It was a good weekend, lots of people, lots of sunshine. Here are some pictures.

There’s Paul and I in the booth, wearing our new duds from Reyan Designs, who were our neighbors. Next to that is a colorful couple who bought a great eyeball tophat. Then there’s artist Katie Lennon and her daughter. Lastly is doll and jewelry artist Molly Stanton, who is wearing the horns we made for her a couple of years ago. She was the one who turned us onto the Fairy Festival.

We got the first of the results back from the photoshoots! Very exciting!
It was a pleasure to work with model Winter Kelly and her photographer husband, Wolf, based in Cincinnati, Ohio. We discovered each other on Model Mayhem.
The pictures are gorgeous. She reminds me of a Norse Goddess with those blue eyes and perfect pale skin, hiking through the snowy landscape. See the whole set in the galleries.
She’s wearing the Karnaya Headdress and a custom bustier set, with matching upper armbands, cuffs, and a thigh band (something new for us). I really love the palette of the images – those cool silvery blues, grays and whites.

This winter seems to be the season of the photoshoot. We joined ModelMayhem in December at the suggestion of local Asheville photrographer Eloise Farr . It’s a professional network with many excellent models and photographers. We’ve connected with some lovely people since then and are doing various rentals and trades over the next few months. By March we should have several sets of new fabulous pics to share. One of the benefits for clothing designers is that the model and photographer that use your work will post it on their pages too, so all of their friends and connections get to see it. It expands our reach 100 fold.
Paul is creating a wild bra and belt for Winter Wolf Studios in Cincinnati, based on the fantasy artist Boris Vallejo’s paintings (see above).
Another local photographer, Nick , is using several OA pieces for a shoot this weekend. He came to our refrigerated studio last week to see it in person. Very nice guy.
Model Kelly Eden, based in Denver, has a great look that will compliment the armor beautifully. We’re still figuring out what we’ll collaborate on, maybe an underwater scene!
We’ve also got a steampunk thing in the works and probably at least one more something, before the busy summer season hits.

Here’s a new Jesse Evans video, featuring several Organic Armor headdresses and bustiers. Also our lovely Radhika and Auriana are among the harem dancers.
