Here’s a cute picture of one of our new mini-top hats. This was shot at The Big Crafty. We had a good time at the show. Sold a steady stream of smaller items. Definitely would like to go back for the December show.

We will have a presence at the following shows:

ComicCon – San Diego.  Sabrina Belly Dancer is now repping us at Belly Dance related shows. She’ll be wearing her custom belly dance set, while her assistant is wearing a brand new one we are calling the mermaid set. Our Heimdall helmet will also be seen in the Marvel Comics area.

Prepare for the Playa – San Francisco. There are two PftP events this year, one this Sunday 7/25, and one on 8/15. Our hats will be there this weekend at the Wild on the Inside Booth. (Thanks Nikki!). We will be there with a full booth on 8/15.

GenCon – Indianapolis. The lovely Allegra, AKA the Chainmail Chick will be wandering this mega gaming con wearing the Winter Goddess set and handing out our cards.

Dragon Con – Atlanta. Allegra will also be modeling some armor at this amazing con. We’re making a new darkly sexy corset for her and some accessories. She’s also going to be wearing fangs from Greyson Wolf

Travis, John and Radhika on the playa

Burning Man was where Organic Armor became a twinkle in Paul’s eye, 15 years ago. We have much love for the festival and it’s denizens. We will not be on the playa this year, but Radhika will probably be there to represent. And lots of our customers will be there, modeling Organic Armor.

BUT, we WILL be at Prepare for the Playa again on August 15th in San Francisco. Hope to see lots of old friends there.

“Featuring 40+ Burner Designers featuring Faux Furs fashions, Elwire and light toys, Goggles, dust masks, funky costumes, playa wear, lingerie, crazy hats, black light reactive gear and all the accessories you need to THRIVE on the Playa. Funky Playa Fashion shows, Playa University How to Clinics and Demos on life on the playa and an Playa Artist Benefit. Free Entry. Everything you need for a Great Burn!”

Sunday July 25th and Sunday August 15th from 12pm-7pm at Cafe Cocomo 650 Indiana St. SF

The Resource Issue of  Jack Rabbit Speaks – the Burning Man community’s newsletter, was just posted on the BM website. We are listed (under Playa Wear) along with 100+ other Burner friendly businesses. Lots of great resources to survey there. Two of our favorites are:

Cool Neon – the best place for EL wire for more than a decade

Wild on the Inside – specializes in reversible, fully functional, tons of pockets, FAUX FUR Playa Coats in several lengths.

We’re back from the Northeast. Had a wonderful time in NY/CT/MA. Went to a beautiful barefoot beach wedding on Fire Island. Hand delivered some custom Organic Armor to a new customer. Made a great connection with Gothic Renaissance, “New York City’s most renowned Gothic Boutique”. They are now carrying our work!

We also ate a LOT of good food and hung out with old friends and family.

We visited two great collections of medieval and renaissance armor: the one at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, and the one at the Higgins Armory in Worcester, MA. The Higgins is a hidden treasure in central Mass. Four floors covering the Trojan war to the early 20th century.

The time and money that went into making the classic Knight’s armor in the old days was amazing. It could take years and cost the equivalent of $75,000. When you study it up close, you understand why.

We’re scrambling to get out of town. Heading for NYC and parts north for a Fire Island wedding and family time. We will also be delivering some fab pieces to a new gallery in Manhattan. Looking for other opportunities to show our work to interesting folks, suggestions welcome.

Check out this luscious photo by Laura Dark, featuring our new clip on horns. They look great with big opera hair don’t they? They have little loops to insert your own clips, combs or barrettes. 25.00 a pair. They are not on the website yet. Email me to order some.

We made another great connection through Model Mayhem a couple of weeks ago. San Diego fantasy photographer WarFlight shot some beautiful pics of one of our customers Stephanie.

It started out with Stephanie, who lives in San Diego,  finding us online and ordering a bustier set. She loved what we made her and sent us some photos she’d done of herself. She looked great but the pictures were dim snapshots. I asked if she’d be interested in modeling the outfit. She liked the idea so I did a search on MM and found Richard AKA WarFlight Wrong Studios. He loves shooting costumed scenes, has a good eye for drama, and makes a point of generously supporting new models and artists with trades. His tag line is “Costume Play, for Art’s Sake”.

So I contacted him. Turns out he’s been a fan for a while and was excited to work with us. He’d found us on DeviantArt. So I introduced him to Stephanie and, 2 weeks later, viola! Amazing what you can do 3000 miles away with an internet connection.

I  am so happy with these photos. I love the way they tell a story. The tarot is always a good source of rich imagery. Stephanie never modeled before but she did a wonderful job. All around warm fuzzy feelings!

Just after the cherry and redbud trees began flowering this spring, we were part of a shoot with photographer Laura Dark. We got to accessorize the lovely garments of Enigma Fashions . The images just came out in the latest issue of Auxiliary Magazine (click on the magazine image and turn to page 40 to see them).

We returned last night from Charlotte, where we spent the weekend at ConCarolinas. Met some talented folks there who welcomed us warmly. It wasn’t a great weekend for sales though. I think our prices were too high for the crowd. But we were greatly appreciated.

Allegra, AKA the Chainmail Chick, modeled the Winter Goddess outfit as well as some steampunk gear. She wandered about attracting fans and handing out cards.

Allegra and Paul entered the costume contest on Saturday night: Paul in his Ringmaster Greenman suit and Allegra in the Winter Goddess. They won 1st place in the Pro category.

We connected IRL with two photographers whom we had previously met online.  Alan Welch and Keith Bailey both do fantasy based photography. Our look is sympatico with theirs, so we planned a collaboration. Sunday afternoon we all met up  at the new Elf FLight photo studio, just south of Charlotte, and did some wonderful work with models Allegra, and Hollie Quinn, as well as two other photographers, Nicole  and Tanner.  There was hair and makeup help from Melissa, Allegra’s sister.

Images from that shoot will be forthcoming. Meanwhile here are some pictures of other venders and guests at the Con that we enjoyed connecting with.

We’re packing up to drive to Charlotte tomorrow morning early. It’s only 2 hours away. It’ll be tight cramming it all into the Subaru. We have lined up a photoshoot on Sunday with Alan Welch of Reverie Realm, a photographer from Raleigh, NC. He does lovely digitally enhanced fantasy scenes, like those below.

If you come to ConCarolinas please visit us in the Art Room. I believe there are discount tickets for those attending HeroesCon nearby.
