I create costumes for tribal fairy punks, video
game priestesses, alien viking warriors and
circus divas, among other things. I've been
developing the techniques and designs of
Organic Armor for more than fifteen years.
My work was first inspired by the Burning Man
Festival and other tribal music communities. In
making costumes for myself, I learned the hard
way over time, how to make them comfortable
and durable, as well as original.

My first paid commission was to create weapon
props for a techno version of the Hindu epic the
Ramayana in 2000. They had to be fierce look-
ing, yet safe for the dancers to perform with. I sculpted rubber and foam into forms inspired by ancient Indian culture. They were an instant success, winning an LA Weekly award. Organic Armor was born. My day job of computer programming had been "offshored" at about the same time, so I set off on the path of the full time artist.

Since then I've created costumes for many productions including: Jackson Frost at Glendale Centre Theater., Goblin City, an indie sci-fi film, The Mayan Dance Company of Los Angeles, and Lucent Dossier at the Coachella Music Festival. I have outfitted many types of performers, including belly dancers, hula hoopers, fire performers, musicians, burlesque dancers, stiltwalkers and puppeteers. I am an artist's artist. Most of my customers are creative people of one kind or another. I find many esthetic comrades in underground culture, where people make their own worlds: steampunk clubs, pirate and faerie festivals, sci-fi and video game conventions, Renaissance faires.

My wife and I run the company together and sell through our website and at festivals. We recently relocated from Los Angeles to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains in order to simplify our lives and allow more space for the work to evolve. We love it here.

I try to encourage everyone to participate joyfully in life's masquerade. I love to see someone put on one of my pieces and suddenly stand more regally, become more radiant, and recognize the divine within themselves.

love,
